Description

This port style wine is food's best friend (no, not just desserts). This lip smacking Cape Ruby, made from  Zinfandel and Tinta Barocca grapes make an intensely concentrated wine fortified together with Backsberg’s signature Sydney Back potstill brandy. Ripe, dark skinned full body notes of fruit cake and wild cherry give way to old spice and leather derived from maturation for several years in small French barriques. Ageing potential up to 20 years.

Pairing suggestion Enjoy a delectable glass of Cape Ruby as a lovely apéritif and you're set. Or pair with traditional South African Cape Bobotie, rustic pastas or hearty soups, chocolate ganache truffle. Also great for reductions over a steak, or poached pairs. You can also match it with aged or "stinky" blue cheese to stand up to its strength - expect a yin and yang balance of sweet and savory notes. Serve slightly chilled (around 12-15°C). The bottle should feel cool to the touch. Cape Ruby will keep for several weeks after opening if it is stored in the fridge bottom door.
